As a Network Marketer with 14 years of experience, I have been fooled by many amateur network marketers out here acting like Professional network marketers.

Now, I would love to sit here and tell you that I saw every single amateur up front and did not join them in business and end up losing my investment, yet that statement would be a lie.

The good news is after making several poor choices on who to join, I begin to see a common thread between amateurs and professionals.

After reading this information you will see an amateur after a few words are exchanged. Now some wonder why it matters rather the person sharing the opportunity is an amateur or a professional, they are starting their own business.. right?

Well, it matters.. it matters A LOT. See the person you join in your Network Marketing business can either help lead you straight to success or they can lead you in the direction opposite of success.

So working with a professional gives you a better chance of having success.

Now the first thing I noticed about amateurs in network marketing is that the first thing they tell you is they have a business that is better than white rice, and you must join.

You may say that all Network Marketers say those words. The issue here is that you haven’t asked them about starting a business. You really haven’t told them anything at all.

When this occurs slowly pull out your red flag and hold it close.

Now the Professional will gather some information prior to mentioning anything about their business.

See the professional understands that their business is not for everyone. The Professional realizes, they really do not want to work with everybody, therefore they need to kind of interview individuals to see they are a good match.

Another way to tell the amateur is by the way they listen and respond to your questions.

If the person is avoiding all your questions and if every response tells about something they have accomplished, pull out the red flag.

See a true Professional does not have to brag about their self every time you ask them a question. They simply answer your question with confidence, or inquire more about what YOU are looking to accomplish. Many amateur network marketers are so busy trying to convince you of all that they have accomplished that they avoid the questions. They also have poor training.

Professional network marketers will answer your questions and make sure you have enough information to make a logical decision, because the professional understands that if you have all the information up front it will avoid problems on the back end.

Finally, look for third party references about the individual with whom you are speaking. Do some research and make sure that they are connected to individuals who can actually help guide you to success.

Make sure there is a team with the individual, and not just the individual working solo.

One thing I have learned from many years in this industry is that it takes a TEAM. I also realized that there is not an “I” in TEAM. As you search for a business to take your family to the next level, make sure that you are ignoring the amateurs and attaching yourself to a Professional.

What are you doing with your PROSPECT??

Many times when we join our business we are so excited that we simply tell everybody that we have found the next best thing since sliced bread. We try to sign up everyone that we run into. Yet the reality is that this is not the best way to prospect, and truth be told everyone is not meant to become your prospect. Realizing that your business is not for everybody is the best place to start and also realizing that you really don’t want to work with just anybody. Now that you have found the next best thing, it is now your job to sort through the people in order the find the ones that were meant to work with you.

Who is YOUR perfect Prospect?

When approaching a person in order to see if they are a good fit for your business or prospect them, you need to interview them. Just like if you were applying for a job they would interview you… or if you were hiring somebody to work with you, you would interview them. Well the same needs to happen now that you are deciding who the individuals are that will take your business to the next level. I’ve learned from many, yet let me mention Dani Johnson and Buck Reed. They taught me how to F.O.R.M individuals prior to introducing them to my business opportunity. In order to F.O.R.M a person you will ask a series if questions to help you determine how your opportunity is a solution to their situation. You may also find through this process that the individual is meant to be a preferred customer instead of a business owner. Now F.O.R.M stands for

1. F = Family: Let’s ask them about their family and determine if the business will help solve an issue in this area. For example: “Do you have children?” “Do you have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with your family?”

2. O = Occupation: Let’s ask them about what they currently do for a living. For example: “Are you currently working?” “What kind of work do you do?” “Do you like what you do?”

3. R = Recreation: Let’s ask them about what they like to do with their free time. For example: “What do you do for fun?” “How many times do you get to do that a week?”

4. M = Motivation: Let’s ask about what motivates them to continue building a business. For example: “Why are you trying to start your own business?” “If your business hit a slow spell, what would motivate you to keep pushing forward?”

Now you know your Prospect!!

Now that we have learned something about our prospect, we can make a better informed decision about how our business will help them in their situation. We are also starting to build a relationship. Many people forget that Network Marketing is about relationships. Remember that people join people not businesses. So you want to build a relationship with your prospect so that they will want to join you.

The final and most important rule for the basics of prospecting is that you must listen to them. You must ask your question and LISTEN to their answer. This is a vital key to successful prospecting. I have found that in the past when I failed to listen to the needs of my prospect that I left without the new member. Once I actually started listening to my prospects my conversion rates went through the roof. I hope this information helps you when you start to talk to your next perfect prospect.

There is a way to choose a business that will work for you, without all the trial and error. Throughout many years, different individuals have tried network marketing business after network marketing business and still not found the success they strive to achieve. After many years of finding myself in that same situation, I have finally found the four key components necessary in order to have success in a Network Marketing Business.

1. Leadership

The first thing you should look for when determining what business to join is the Leadership. Does it exist? Do you see that the leadership is willing to help new members reach a level of success? If you ask the person introducing you to this business about the leadership and they seem uncertain or uncomfortable speaking about it then that should turn into a red flag for you. If they begin to discuss how the leadership is helping them to find success and can even place you on the phone with that leadership then you should count this business as a positive opportunity.

2. Training

Next you need to evaluate how the team implements training for the new and seasoned members of the team. See if there is a weekly team call that will give ideas to the team on how to grow their network marketing business. See if there are webinar trainings that the team can plug into in order to reach the next level. See if there is a step-by-step blueprint for the new members to follow straight into success. If you ask the person you about training and they seem to avoid the question…then this is another red flag. If you ask the person introducing you to this business about training and they begin to get excited about all that they have had the chance to learn and how it has grown their business then count this business as a positive opportunity.

3. Compensation Plan

Now some will tell you that the compensation doesn’t matter until you build a team. This phrase should put up a red flag for you. The compensation plan absolutely matters. This plan is how you will get paid as you grow. Now I have found a great question to test this area is as follows: “How many members do I need to create a 6-figure income per year?” If they go into this long drawn out answer and round about points that do not answer the question.. then consider that a RED flag. If they answer you directly with a number then, the next question is: “Do you have a plan to get to 6-figures per year?” Usually they will have a plan if they know the number needed to get there. Remember that you want to know what you are getting yourself into, and rather you will have to spend the next 5 years doing them impossible or possible.

4. Product

Many will make their decision of joining a business based on the product. Remember that Network Marketing is not about “selling” a product. It is about helping a person use a product to create a new life style. It doesn’t really matter which product, as long as it is from a company that hold integrity. You want to make sure that product does what it says it will. And that it will stand the test of time. I placed this as number 4 because that is the level of importance based on the other areas that need to be explained first. Now some will totally disagree with me, and that is fine. I have found in my 15 years in Network Marketing that the product is the least of my concern as long as the leadership is in place, the training is in place, and the compensation plan is explainable.

I hope this helps you decide the next business you join. The Network Marketing Industry works and is the best way to take control of your financial situation. Yet you still need to make an informed decision on which direction to go. These points should help you receive the information necessary for success.

As we start a new year we want to make sure to place ourselves into a position for success. There are a few things we can do to make sure that we are lined up for success this year.

1. Goal Setting

We need to write out the goals that we wish to accomplish this year. Make sure to write them down and place them in a place that you can look at them every day. Now this list doesn’t have to include the steps to reach the goals, simply the goals themselves. For example: I want to make $X.XX in my business each month. I will take my family on Vacation this year. I will pay off my car this year. I will pay of the house this year. I will receive 10 leads minimum per day. I can not express how important it is to write this information down.

2. Letting Go of Bad Habits

We need to evaluate ourselves. Think about the tings you did last year that did not bring you to the next level of success. Think about the things that absolutely hindered your progress. We need to let these things go. We need to make a conscious decision that we are not going to allow these things to get in the way of our success this year. Some of us may need to let go of some people. Some of us may need to turn off the T.V., or as one of my mentors calls it A.I.R. the Automatic Income Reducer. Some of us may need to decide to work hard now so that you can play hard later. Take the time to write these things down. Look over this list about once a week to gauge how well you are letting go of bad habits.

3. Fill Your Mind with Food For Success

In order to stay in a success oriented mind set we must fill our minds with Food For Success. I have accomplished this task by reading books that fill my mind with thoughts of success, and the realization that I can accomplish anything I put my mind toward. A few great choices are:
